Work Access Ltd is an employment service that seeks to facilitate the integration of people with disabilities into paid employment. The service employs a team of Job Coaches that work with individuals to help them gain and maintain employment. Support is provided to help the job applicant overcome any barriers which may exist in terms of accessing employment. The service is available to everyone with a disability including those with mental health difficulties within the Limerick city and county area. The service is free to both job applicants and employers and is funded by Fàs under the National Development Programme 2000 - 2006.
Work Access was established as a Consortium in June 2001 with members from each of the main disability organisations in Limerick. In March of 2004 a separate company was set up to run the Programme - Work Access Ltd and now the service is operating as a stand alone entity with an independent voluntary Board of Directors. The Board consists of representatives from National Learning Network, the Brothers of Charity, the Daughters of Charity, Enable Ireland, Richmond Recruitment and Dell Ireland. The service is part of the FAS Sponsored National Supported Employment Programme and there are 23 similar groups around the country.
